Rome, London, Athens [23 March 2026]. K Group, the owner of Antenna Group (“Antenna”) a leading international media, content and entertainment organization, today announces the acquisition of 100% of GEDI Gruppo Editoriale S.p.A (“GEDI”) from Exor, including the newspaper La Repubblica, the radio brands Radio Deejay, Radio Capital, m2o, alongside HuffPost Italia, National Geographic Italia, Limes, and the advertising agency Manzoni. The transaction does not include La Stampa, which – as GEDI recently announced – has been agreed to be sold to the SAE Group, together with its printing center and commercial network for local advertising sales. Simultaneously there is an agreement to dispose of Stardust, excluding it from the scope of the acquisition.
Antenna’s acquisition of GEDI will strengthen a leading Italy-based independent news and entertainment organization with broad international reach and global appeal.
Antenna Group will leverage its expertise in media, news, education, events, conferences and entertainment to strengthen GEDI’s portfolio of news and media brands, establishing GEDI as a powerful international media company with robust editorial independence. Maintaining the editorial independence of all acquired media outlets is always important to Antenna. Preserving the identity, credibility, and pluralism of each brand is a core principle of Group’s strategy. In addition, Antenna plans to invest significant new capital to extend La Repubblica’s reach and showcase the award-winning work of the newspaper’s many talented journalists. At the same time, Antenna plans to expand GEDI’s radio business to create an important Mediterranean radio network hub and invest in news documentary production, streaming, podcasts, music production and publishing, education, and cinema – areas in which Antenna has a proven track record of successful investments.
Antenna is committed to investing in Italian journalism and bolstering Italy’s position as a leading provider of news and entertainment. The acquisition will enhance the consumer experience, integrate new technology and innovation, and expand audiences for GEDI’s news and content. It will also create several new opportunities for journalists to reach a larger international audience. Antenna will also grow existing content partnerships with HuffPost Italia, National Geographic Italia and others. Antenna is currently in discussions with strategic partners in the U.S. to add additional news and entertainment brands that compliment GEDI’s portfolio. Antenna will seek to partner with other local Italian groups and entrepreneurs on its Italian growth strategy.
Additionally, the acquisition will create opportunity to expand GEDI’s mymovies.it streaming platform and further integrate it with Antenna’s robust streaming platforms. Antenna will also explore expanding its theatrical cinema business in Italy given the company’s significant movie theater expertise. The GEDI portfolio will also allow Antenna to expand in music production and publishing, augmenting GEDI’s substantial radio assets. Furthermore, Antenna will leverage its relationships with global media powerhouses such as Netflix and other streaming companies to broaden distribution for GEDI’s news documentaries.
Antenna is pleased to invest in Italy and recognizes Italy’s position as one of Europe’s largest and most sophisticated economies with political stability, highly skilled talent, and globally influential cultural assets. The country’s continued focus on economic competitiveness and growth provides a solid foundation for long-term investment. Italy is a great country that has repeatedly demonstrated its ability to develop and expand internationally recognized brands and stands for its tradition of independent journalism. Antenna is proud to invest in a country with which it shares a deep respect and admiration for its culture, people, and values.
Over the past 38 years, Antenna Group has expanded into a trusted, forward-looking and globally impactful media, content and entertainment organization. Today, it is well established as a diversified group, owning and operating 37 free-to-air and pay TV channels, two streaming platforms, and a broad portfolio of businesses across Europe, North America and Australia, reaching up to 500 million people worldwide through its own platforms and partnerships.
Following the completion of the transaction, Mirja Cartia d’Asero, an experienced executive with a strong and proven track record in leading media and finance organizations through growth and high-impact operations, will become CEO of GEDI Group. Mirja is looking forward to working together with the management team of GEDI to support the Group’s development and internationalization strategy. Mario Orfeo, who has served as editor-in-chief of the newspaper since 2024, will remain editor-in-chief of La Repubblica, ensuring editorial and leadership continuity while Linus will continue to lead the radio business.
Mirja Cartia d’Asero, Antenna Group’s representative and incoming CEO of GEDI Group, said: “On behalf of Theodore Kyriakou, Chairman of Antenna Group, and the Antenna family we are delighted to welcome GEDI to our Group. Together, we will build on the history of its publications and the strength of its brands to create a media group with global reach and meaningful impact. The Antenna Group shares a deep commitment to integrity, editorial independence and reliable news, and places great importance on respecting local culture and identity, which are fundamental to strong and trusted media. With Italy’s high skilled talents and a proven capacity to develop powerful international brands, we see great potential for GEDI to reinforce its position as a benchmark for quality journalism and media innovation.”
