Italian prosecutors said Thursday they are investigating two prominent ratings agencies after consumer groups complained about recent turbulence on the financial markets. Investigators told a news conference in the southern city of Trani that documents were seized in the probe at offices of Moody’s and Standard & Poors. Thursday saw strong turbulence on Milan’s main stock exchange, which near the end of the trading day found the FTSE MIB down -3.23 percent. Borsa Italiana said that the final value of the index was not immediately available. It didn’t state a reason, saying only a statement would be forthcoming. (AP Photo/Antonio Calanni)
